Deze website belicht vooral alles wat ik doe naast mijn baan als lector Ethisch Werken bij Fontys. Zo schrijf ik boeken en recensies, maak vertalingen uit het Latijn en het Hongaars (en incidenteel ook uit andere talen) en ben ik actief in de muziek. Een deel van mijn publieksactiviteiten vloeien direct voort uit mijn lectoraat, maar niet allemaal; op deze site vind je het complete overzicht.

About 

This website primarily showcases my activities in addition to my role as a lecturer in Ethical Work at Fontys. I write books and reviews, produce translations from Latin and Hungarian (and occasionally from other languages), and am involved in music. Some of my public engagements are directly related to my position as a lecturer, though not all; this site provides a comprehensive overview.

Opleidingen

Na mijn gymnasium-alfa heb ik Klassieke Talen, Filosofie, Oudheidkunde en Algemene Letteren gestudeerd aan de Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Ik heb daar ook de (tweede fase) lerarenopleiding gedaan en beschik dus over een eerstegraads bevoegdheid om Latijn en Grieks te geven. Tijdens mijn werkzame leven ben ik altijd blijven studeren, want terecht wordt gezegd dat een mens nooit te oud is om te leren. Zo heb ik ook nog een masterstudie Bestuurskunde afgerond. Maar bijvoorbeeld ook opleidingen voor literair vertaler gevolgd bij het Expertisecentrum Literair Vertalen. En een bootcamp bij stemacteren.nl, ook heel leerzaam – en leuk.

Eductation

After completing my Gymnasium Alpha, I pursued studies in Classical Languages, Philosophy, Ancient Studies, and General Literature at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. I also undertook the second-phase teacher training program there, earning a first-degree teaching qualification in Latin and Greek. Throughout my professional career, I have remained committed to continuous learning, as it is rightly said that one is never too old to acquire knowledge. In addition, I completed a Master's degree in Public Administration, as well as training for literary translation at the Expertise Centre for Literary Translation. I also participated in a bootcamp at stemacteren.nl, which proved both instructive and enjoyable.

Carriere

Ik ben begonnen als studieadviseur en later studentendecaan. Vervolgens beleidsadviseur geworden bij de VSNU (tegenwoordig UniversiteitenNL) en daarna directeur bij expertisecentrum handicap+studie in Utrecht. In Almere mocht ik pionieren en vanuit de gemeente twee hogescholen helpen ‘landen’; bij de Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten was ik ook pionier op de ‘wetenschapsfunctie’, tegenwoordig doorgegroeid tot Kennishub. Naast deze functies heb ik af en toe tijdelijke docentschappen gehad aan de VU in Amsterdam en bij de Universiteit Leiden (deels in Den Haag, bij Bestuurskunde). Bij Platform31, een onafhankelijke kennis- en netwerkorganisatie in Den Haag was ik drie jaar senior projectleider. En nu ben ik dus lector Ethisch Werken bij Fontys Hogeschool in Eindhoven en Tilburg, en samen met Willeke Slingerland duovoorzitter van het Lectorenplatform Toekomstbehendig Bestuur. Career

I began my career as a study advisor and later as a student dean. I then became a policy advisor at the VSNU (now known as UniversiteitenNL) and subsequently director at the Expertise Centre for Disability & Study in Utrecht. In Almere, I had the opportunity to be a pioneer, helping two universities establish themselves with support from the municipality. At the Association of Dutch Municipalities, I was also a pioneer, working on the 'science function,' which has since evolved into the Knowledge Hub. Alongside these roles, I occasionally held temporary teaching positions at the VU in Amsterdam and at Leiden University (partly in The Hague, within the Public Administration department). At Platform31, an independent knowledge and networking organization in The Hague, I served as a senior project leader for three years. Currently, I am a lecturer in Ethical Work at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven and Tilburg, and co-chair, together with Willeke Slingerland, of the Lecturers' Platform for Future-Proof Governance.
